Japan are on the brink of making the World Cup knockout rounds after defeating against Samoa 38-19 in Toyota
The championship hosts held a slim 16-9 lead at half-time thanks to three penalties and a Timothy Lafaele try from fly-half Yu Tamura.
Second-half tries from Kazuki Himeno and Kotaro Matsushima (two ) then sealed a bonus-point victory that sees them remain unbeaten and top their team with one match remaining.
Their fixture is against Scotland from Yokohama, and should they win by progressing into some World Cup quarter-final for its first time that they will produce history.
